Information Systems Planning at a Major Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company
In mid-1994, a major oil and gas exploration and production company completed the implementation of a core financial systems package. This project had consumed all the time, attention and resources of the Information Services and Technology (IS&T) group for close to three years. Before proceeding with future projects, the IS&T director realized the necessity of refocusing the group on the effective support of overall corporate goals and objectives.

With that aim in mind, the IS&T director asked Bryn to assist in the development of a strategic information systems plan and departmental mission statement. Within three months, Bryn was able to deliver a quality plan with practical solutions. In addition, they facilitated the definition of IS&T's departmental mission and role.

In testimony to Bryn's work, the IS&T Director stated

"Bryn developed a concise planning document that was easy to understand and clearly explained the need for increased expenditures in information technology. It clarified for the executives and Board of Directors how the corporate objectives were tied to IT expenditures."

The V.P. of Engineering had this to say.

Finally, the Controller said
